I played in the open club game this afternoon with a student from my mother's class. She is a true beginner, but played pretty well, and we finished in 3rd. That makes four games in a row where I've placed. I'm not playing in the Monday game this week because I'm meeting my trainer tomorrow night, but I'll hopefully find a partner for the Thursday game and extend my streak even further. Here's hoping.

Ahren and I made a bet. We talk a lot of shit to each other about bridge. He won't deny that I'm better than he is, but for some reason, he can play better with other random people than he plays with me. So he says I make him bad and really he's a good player. Whatever, dude. Right now I have 55ish masterpoints and he's somewhere between 30 and 40. He has far more opportunity to play than I do, and the awards are higher, because he's playing in regionals, whereas I'm playing in dinky club games. So I bet him that he can't catch up to me in masterpoints by this time next year. If he doesn't, he has to quit smoking. If I lose, he's still deciding what he's going to make me do. But I'm not really worried about it because I don't have any disgusting habits and I'm also not going to lose.

Tomorrow is my parents' 42nd anniversary, so we're celebrating tonight by ordering pizza. My parents crack me up.
