Bad Things
Aug. 28th, 2006 10:12 pmI went to the gym tonight. I was tired, but I needed to go, and I had a meeting with my trainer. Halfway through the workout (upper body and abs), I started getting an arthritis-like pain in my left hand, and I couldn't hold the dumbell in that hand. We wrote it off to my lack of sleep and moved on to something I could push with my arm without having to grip. After one set on that machine, my left arm felt dead. Not numb, not sore, not tingling, just too weak to do anything. My trainer went down a list of things she knew to watch out for and we ruled out everything, so we just moved upstairs and did pilates for the last half of my session. We did some breathing exercises that helped reinvigorate my arm, but it still felt weird when I left. My mom called and asked me to come to her bridge game because they were one player short of five tables. I got there after one round had already been played, but joined the game playing with the same partner I had last Monday.
When I play cards, I always hold the cards in my left hand, but I couldn't even do that tonight. I'm definitely concerned. My arm was fine for the first half of my workout, and I didn't feel anything snap or catch or do anything weird that would trigger an injury...it was just a quick, steady decline into non-function. It's even hard to type right now. This is just what I need, right?
However, I'd gladly give up function of my arm (at least for a little while) to get a solid offer on my house.
Peace.
