Well, I procrastinated a little bit too long. I finished the book, which totally sucked. It's called "Rainbow's End, The Crash of 1929," and it only talks about the stupid crash for one lousy chapter. Then in that chapter it talks about how Hoover jumped right into the action and really took charge. MY ASS! Herbert Hoover held conferences where he politely asked business owners not to lay people off, to maintain wages, and to please avoid strikes. He may have held lots of conferences, but he was a total laissez-faire kinda guy, and the country continued to go down the shitter for the rest of his presidency. People called cardboard boxes "Hoover Houses," and newspapers were "Hoover blankets." You expect a guy who gets published and selected for reading in a seminar history class to at least know his topic better than the students, but no....
Anyway I didn't write my paper yet. My class was at 8, so I set my alarm for 5 to write it, but I woke up and was like, no fucking way. I'll turn it in a day late and get five points off and nobody will die here. Except the author of this book because I'm going to tear him a new asshole with my review.
I really love how I've at least *somewhat* relaxed about grades. I'm about to graduate. I have a 3.9 gpa. Out of 126 credits, one more B will not hurt my gpa enough to make a dent. And let's think about this? What else am I taking this semester? Two Fogarty classes: A and A (maybe even an A+), Weightlifting: A, Guitar: A, New Testament: probably an A+, depending on whether or not Watson likes my paper. In Longenecker's classes, it's always between an A- and a B+ for me. In this particular class, he has 60 students between to sections, and I'm his only history major, and only senior(at least in the 8am section). Whether I get an A or a B on this paper, I can probably still count on an A for the course, considering who I'm up against....
So actually it looks like I do still heavily analyze grades, huh?
* long pause for phone *
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to be an aunt!!!!!! In March!!!!!!
My brother William is going to be a Daddy! He's going to be the best Dad in the world, I'm so excited! I don't know if I've ever been happier about one piece of news ever:) Ok, no, he's not married, no he's not staying with the mother, but the mother, Emily, is really cool and I like her a lot, and they're staying friends and they live really close and WOW:) Ok I have to go now because I have school.
YAY!
This day totally just turned around!
Peace
