Because of the type of special event last night's bridge game was, the scoring takes forever and the results aren't out yet, but I can say with confidence that we did very well, so it was a good time, even if we didn't win. [livejournal.com profile] quandary87 and I schemed about all the ways to grow a game in Charlottesville, since I'm getting pretty serious about wanting to run my own game on Tuesday nights. We shall see...

Today is expiration Friday, so everyone at work is in a tizzy, but I finished an article last night and I'm kind of ahead of the game right now, so I'm just chilling for a bit this morning. I'm so glad it's Friday, though. This week has dragged, and I'm really looking forward to the weekend. My sometimes-bridge partner Ann invited me to her house for a dinner party tonight. She was cute - when she invited me, she listed all the vegetarian items they'll be serving:) Last time I went to a dinner party at her house, I was 9, and I'd just become a vegetarian. She was serving venison, and I ate 7 dinner rolls with butter and nothing else. I was satisfied, but she was concerned that I was disappointed with the choices. Fuck that, man, dinner rolls are the best. Ever since then, whenever my mom makes rolls, I have to ask her, "These are Ann's rolls, right?" Hehe:) I told her as long as she had rolls again tonight, I'm in.

Tomorrow is the Duke game at VT, so I'm going down for that with my folks. At the game, we're meeting up with the Buchanans, so hopefully I'll get to meet their new baby, Graham, tomorrow. But I'd understand if they didn't want to bring him to the game. Blake, their six-year-old (and my favorite child under 7 that I'm not related to), is going to be sitting with us. I've been warned that he's a Duke fan, but maybe with a few of my mom's chocolate chip cookies, he can be lured back into the light. When he was a baby, he was a hokie through and through, but his parents took jobs at Duke a few years ago and he's forgotten his roots. They all come crawling back, though, and if he wants to be celebrating after the game, he'll cheer for the hokies.

I have no plans yet for Sunday except for a jog and maybe some bridge. If it's nice, I might try to go hiking somewhere. I feel like being active this weekend. Speaking of which, I just want to say publicly what an inspiration [livejournal.com profile] bigonbnl has been lately, and I'm so proud of her and all she's doing for herself, and it keeps me motivated to do all the same things for myself. So rock on, chica! I wish we were in the same town so we could work out together, but the lj stories of progress are helpful anyway. Keep up the good work, or something less cliche!

Peace.

I have no idea how we managed it.

Are you kidding? You inspire ME! And I don't know about the two of us working out together. Oh the methane!

haha:) Yeah, it may be a bad idea for those around us, but hey, we'd get the gym to ourselves!

I'm glad I inspire you, but it's a two way street - I need someone who motivates me, too. It's easy when you feel like you're in it together with other people. I'm also really excited for you and your mom, with her trying to quit smoking and turn things around for herself. That's great.
