Oct. 7th, 2006 09:14 amDespite the fact that it's a weekend and I have no plans - not even a football game of interest - until this evening, I still woke up at 5am. I finally admitted that I wouldn't be falling back asleep around 7, so I showered and left the house for the gym. Why shower before the gym? Because I already smelled that awful.
I stopped at Bodo's on the way to juice up, then got to the gym just as they were opening at 8. Not too many people were there at first, which was lucky, because as soon as I got on the leg lift, I noticed the unmistakable smell of poo. I was so sure I'd be fartless this early in the morning - for once, fartless at the gym - and yet I still managed to smell like stale ass. Then I realized - my shoes! I'd last worn these shoes camping and I'd stepped in a lot of shit that day. Bugger. Whenever someone would come to a machine near me, I'd leave and do something else, to try and spare them the wretching. I did a full body weight training set, since I've been so bad about going to the gym lately, and since I have all day, and by 8:45 I was ready to get on a treadmill. But the fucking gym was packed by then. What are all these losers doing at 8:45 on a Saturday morning at the gym? There were empty treadmills, but they were all sandwiched between in-use treadmills, and I really didn't want to subject anyone to the smell of my shoes - and worse, I didn't want them to think it was MY ass that smelled that way.
There was a whole empty set of bikes on the second floor, but after so much time off, I wasn't going to let myself slack off. The treadmill runners were just going to have to deal. Or leave. And within five minutes, all the treadmills around mine were empty. :-/ I ran for the first 10 minutes on a 2% incline, then I walked the last 20 minutes, increasing the grade and speed every few minutes. By the end of my walk, I was at a 5% incline and 4.0 MPH. According to the machine, I climbed 300 vertical feet, and did something over 2 miles but I don't remember how much exactly. I do feel great, though, and now I'm going to jump in the shower for the second time this morning.
The food journaling is definitely a good thing. I recommend it to all my dieting friends. I think it's helping me a lot. Although I'm nervous, because I have dinner plans with a friend at a very greasy restaurant tonight...but I've been quite good since I started this on Wednesday, and what are weekends for? ;) I'm still going to behave, but I guess I won't beat myself up for having one less-than-ideal meal. Even so, I'm still way ahead of last week Meg.
Peace.
