Nov. 2nd, 2006 11:32 amI blame Daylight Savings for this. I keep waking up way early for work but I still have a normal breakfast at the normal time, and yet, I'm hungry for lunch before 11 most days. I'm going to Himalayan Fusion today, which is probably the best restaurant in Charlottesville as far as taste, but about the worst restaurant in the state of Virginia where service is concerned. I wish I could make good authentic Indian food, because I hate that I'm such a frequent patron of such a crappily-run establishment. But it's just so good.
I bet I could learn to make rice pudding without too much trouble...does anyone have any experience with it? I'm sure there are bazillions of recipes out there for such a thing. I guess that could be the next thing I try. I'll wait for my folks to get home from vacation before I do that, though.
Why is it that things like recipes and dress patterns assume you have some basic level of knowledge? I've found that every time I cook or try to make something from a pattern, I either fuck it up because the instructions are unclear, or I have to go to my mother for help because I just can't understand what I'm supposed to do. I know I'm a total twit when it comes to these things, but I would really appreciate it if the recipe-writers and pattern-makers of the world would spell it the fuck out. Include pictures, too.
Tennis last night was alright. Brent annihilated me as I expected he would, but I got good exercise and socialized with someone my own age for a change. Tonight I'm either teaching a bridge class or going to a Wiyos concert at the Gravity Lounge. I'm really rooting for the concert, but I won't know until later if I have to teach the class. It would be nice if my mother would be clearer about these things.
I cleaned my office today, too. It looks all shiny and new. It turns out, I'm not a complete domestic oaf. I'm so looking forward to moving to my new place....
Peace.
