Nov. 3rd, 2006 08:53 amLast night, I told myself before going to bed that I would let myself sleep in. And I did. I slept five whole minutes past my usual wake-up time. I was still the first into my office and I still got more done in the first hour of my day than many accomplish in 8 hours. Go me. But what I really wanted to do was SLEEP IN. Seriously.
I was out "late" last night, at a show at the Gravity Lounge with Emily. The Wiyos were there, and I loved them when they opened for the Mammals, so I didn't want to miss last night's show. I even blew off bridge for it. I know. But the band wasn't on until after 8, and they played a long set, so it was almost 11 when I got home. That is too late for the Megster on a work night. I foresee problems next week, when Crooked Still plays there on a Wednesday and their opener doesn't even go on until 8. Uf. Maybe I'll have time for a nap that day. I just don't do well without enough sleep. When I was in high school, it was rare that I got more than three or four hours of sleep, and I was a very busy kid. I think I used up all my energy reserves for the rest of my life living like that as a teenager. If I could take it all back, I wouldn't. I don't mind being a young old lady. I wear it well, I think.
The best part of the evening was seeing the Gravity Lounge PACKED. I'd talked to Bruce, my mailman and also GL bartender, about rumors of the lounge closing. I haven't seen big crowds there in a while, with the exception of the Girlyman show, which is always a sellout crowd, and he said it's true - they're not making enough to pay the rent, but as long as the landlord doesn't shut the doors, they'll keep on truckin'. I think part of what makes that place great is their dedication to the music and the folk artists...I just wish they'd make some money so it wouldn't be such a struggle :( But to see it packed on a Thursday night for a band that really isn't very well known was great.
Time to turn my attention back to work. Speaking of my office, WHO THE FUCK turns the AC on to 65 when it's BELOW 40 outside? I'm fucking freezing here. Yeesh.
Peace.

Date: 2006-11-03 10:44 pm (UTC)Which is pretty funny, considering the makeup of your office. :-D
And I never knew his name was Bruce! I am such a loser!
