Oct. 20th, 2003 11:14 amSo far, as planned, today has gone swimmingly. I really need to be writing a paper right now, but I've decided that I can't be done with it in the time I have to work on it so procrastination it is!
Jeremy is getting out of his lease today so he and his roommates can evacuate the hellhole that is their house. The only condition is that they have to be completely moved out by tomorrow. Can we say, "shit," boys and girls? He's scampering around looking for real estate deals where he can sign at most a six month lease, after which I am hoping my roommates (if any of them are staying this summer anyway) will let him sublet someone else's share of the apartment. I don't think any of them are planning on sticking around, so this really shouldn't be a problem, but I guess we'll see. Jer and I will probably find a place of our own for next year. He's talking about buying a house together, but realistically I just don't think we have that kind of money. We're working on it, though. I mean I have trust funds and whatnot but I'm not sure I want to nail myself down to Harrisonburg just yet. I do love it here, but my future plans have me leaving here within the next five years, so buying a house really isn't the kind of investment I want to make right now...but maybe. Anyway.
I got my senior portraits back today, finally. Mine are generally horrible. The poses look so unnatural and forced. My photographer was really a nice guy, but damn, I hope he finds a new job. I have one shot that I find acceptable, so I guess that's the one it's going to be. Jeremy's on the other hand, are marvelous. He looks so sharp! I picked out his outfit, thankyouverymuch:) There is one really adorable shot of us together, which we'll stick in the yearbook, too.
I am wearing my Gsus tshirt today. So far, I haven't gotten much of a reaction from anyone. I've never worn it on campus before. I was really hoping some people would ask me about it, so that I could explain that I was the lead singer of this "band" in high school and we were called Gsus after the guitar chord G Sustained, but pronounced Jesus and isn't that a great story? But no one's asked. Oh well. It's a pretty shirt:) Helen made it, because she's a spectacular artist and she loves me and my band, which has been on hiatus since the day we formed.
I am happy because tonight I get to fulfill my dorky desires for a full half hour. That's right, kids, a new episode of Real World/Road Rules: The Gauntlet. I love those challenges! I haven't watched RW or RR in like six years because I think they're stupid and superficial, yet I can't tear myself away from these challenge episodes. I know that is a contradiction. I think the reason behind this is that my old favorites are back - like Elka and Norm and Roni - and while in retrospect I realize that the earlier seasons were just as superficial as the current ones, I can't undo my past love for them (just like I'm 20 years old and can't stop listening to Hanson every now and then). OK now I have to talk about Hanson. I love Hanson and I totally respect what they did. Unlike other teenybopper sensations, the Hanson kids actually wrote and played all the music on their albums. Backstreet Boys and N Sync do neither of these things. Plus Isaac is such a hottie. Ha. Was. I no longer find myself attracted to him...however I remember those days fondly.
Ok, weightlifting, here I come.
Peace.
