I'm one of three people in the office today who didn't want to use up a vacation day for what only has to be a half day of work anyway. The market closes at 1 today, but I was pretty much done with everything on my plate by 9am today. I forgot that I didn't have to be here at 8 because the regular daily reports don't go out today, and I came in at 7:30 when I could've given myself a little more time. Oh well. I'll get to leave in at most 3 hours. No big deal.

My poor little cousin got really sick after Thanksgiving dinner last night. My niece was also complaining of an upset stomach, so we all started to worry that my mom had poisoned us. But then the truth came out: Byron had finished off the entire cookie jar on his own, and Lucy was simply experiencing sympathy pains. So the rest of us are feeling quite fine and I'm looking forward to a feast of leftovers today. We have a fair number of vegetarians in my family, so there's always plenty to eat for us. Yesterday I had:
Sweet potatoes
Mashed potatoes
Lima beans
Mom's rolls (the best ever)
Mushrooms
Stuffing
Corn pudding (made by yours truly)
Chocolate e'claire dessert (no idea if I spelled that correctly)
The grand omission this year was my aunt Sandra's traditional turkey cookies. She has turkey-shaped cookie cutters and always makes loads of gingerbread turkey cookies with various colors of icing for their feathers and such. They're a Thanksgiving staple, and none of us can remember a year where we didn't eat them. But this year Sandra was recovering from surgery, so she didn't make the cookies. It's funny how much of a bummer it is to break such a tradition, but we're all glad Sandra's doing well, so we don't hold it against her:)

William proposed a new rule change to our Balderdash game, wherein we implemented a secret ballot system. He argued that the family had gotten too sophisticated for the game, because we'll change our answers if too many people are guessing the same thing. Because of this, the rewards for a good definition are diminished, and the scoring doesn't really affect how well some people play the game. At first, people were reluctant to accept his rule change, insisting that he's trying to swing the game in his favor, but he ended up losing pretty severely, and in the end we all got on board. Aunt Beth ran away with the game this year, but I was a respectable 2nd out of 10.

Time really doesn't pass when you've got nothing to do...

Peace.
