Jan. 8th, 2007 10:25 amOnly time for a brief update this morning, but I'm really looking forward to my day.
Part of my job is organizing all our office events, including birthday parties. A coworker just had a birthday, so I am picking up a cake for him today and holding an office shindig this afternoon. I'm having Indian food for lunch with Adam today at my favorite Cville restaurant. I have DI and bridge this evening, too - also fun. But what I'm really soiling myself over is the great office supply order of 2007! My boss puts me in charge of all this stuff, so I've been spending several hours (dating back to last week) flipping through a 2000 page office supply catalog finding all the stuff we need for the office, and all the stuff I want for the office:) I have very few budget restrictions, and I swear this is like my favorite thing ever. I love office supplies.
I am such a nerd.
Bridge yesterday was much better than Saturday. We won all but one match all day, even though our partners were a little shaky at times. They'd never met before, and this little old lady was kind of, well, iffy. But she did alright and Ahren and I had a really solid day. Everything went right for us and we left on a high note. We *think* we have some teammates for Wburg this weekend, but we decided we're not going for the pair game. We just don't like pairs as much as teams, and it's too expensive. We can do just as well on BBO for much less money, get more boards in, and we don't need silver or red points anyway. But we are going for the team game, and we may stay overnight and do the Jamestown/Yorktown thing either on Saturday or Monday - I have Monday off for MLK day (Lee Jackson King Day in Virginia, because former Governor Gilmore is a fucking moron).
ETA: I looked it up since some of you folks have suggested LJK day is no longer one holiday in VA. I was mixed up. It was Gilmore who separated the holidays, not combined them, in 2000. It was one of the few things the man ever did right, so I stand by my "Gov. Gilmore is a fucking moron" statement. See: car tax, etc.
Anyway, back to my catalog!!!!
Peace.

Date: 2007-01-08 07:56 pm (UTC)Some article I found by googling around seemed to indicate Gilmore in fact severed the two holidays in about 2000.
