Jan. 19th, 2007 10:32 amI have to write a big long thing for work today and I'm not quite in the right frame of mind yet. I've found that it helps me get there to blog a bit, so now I just need to come up with something to say...
For the first weekend in quite some time, I'm actually staying in town the whole time this weekend. I have laundry to do and DI to coach and workouts to try and an apartment to clean...and of course there is bridge to be played, but it's nice to have a whole 48 hours ahead of me to fit all that into, instead of just the four hours after work on a Friday night that I plan to remain awake. Three cheers for time!
So I'm a week (workweek, that is) into this fitness challenge thing, and so far, so good. Today I tried yet another food I've never had before. This is kind of a laugher - I don't know why I've never had a grapefruit before, but somehow I just managed to avoid them my whole life up to now. Not that I was trying to avoid them, because I tend to like citrus fruit. My parents weren't big on them, I guess, and we never had them in the house. Anyway, it went okay. I didn't mind the taste of it (definitely prefer tangerines, though), but I made a heck of a mess trying to eat the thing. I went with the cut it in half and spoon it out method, which I thought would be a lot easier than it was. All told, I probably managed to eat about 1/3 of the fruit that is actually edible. The rest of it taunted me and my spoon from behind a murky shield of juice.
You know, I'm proud of myself. I've stuck to it, and I haven't cheated at all, and I've worked out every day this week except Tuesday, when I was too sore from Monday with my trainer. Since I've got plenty of free time for the weekend, I plan to go to the gym every day and just keep on keepin' on.
Peace.
