I don't have a lot of surface space in my kitchen, and I've decided I want an island. Possibly one with a bar-style setup to tackle the whole issue of not having a kitchen table. Where do I shop for such a thing? In-store, not online, so stores I can find in Cville, please...

Try Target. They have larger ones online than they have in-store - at least that's the case in the Burg. Maybe C'ville's store is a little bigger. :)

you mean something that isnt built into the floor and doesnt require major kitchen renovation? i believe i have seen things like that at bed baf and beyond. yknow, in the beyond part. i believe i saw one with wheels.

I don't want something that requires a whole renovation, just something I can plop down in the middle of the kitchen and use as a bar/table/etc. I don't know if I want one on wheels, though, cause I don't want it rolling all over the place. We'll see...

you can get them at lowes/home depot. You don't have to "install" it. Just plop it down.

We got ours at an unfinished furniture place - do you have one in the area? I don't think you want the one in Durham.
