Feb. 6th, 2007 09:14 amIt's going to be a fun morning. My work is in good shape, so I'm not nearly as stressed as I was this time last week, but the stress has not left the office. There are issues and tensions are high and I welcome the end of the day...
I've had a series of very disturbing dreams over the past few nights. The night before last was nothing short of a nightmare, but last night was just sort of creepy. I was at this resort, and they had a pool...sort of. I was with friends when I got to the pool, but I sort of swam off without them. Instead of having four walls, this pool had three and then opened up to a lake outdoors complete with boats and bridges over it and all that good stuff. And now that I think back to it, I'm pretty sure the cast of Scrubs was at least peripherally involved in this dream. Maybe they were the pals I was with. Anyway, I started swimming out into the lake, toward the first bridge. I don't know what my plan was in all of this. I think I was showing off. Anyway, I got to the first bridge, and some boats started coming right at me. I was expecting this, so I just sort of moved off to the side to let them pass and wasn't bothered by them. I know by this point, all my companions had turned back, but I kept going. I met up with some other swimmers as I headed for the second bridge (we're talking miles between each bridge), but I pretty much ended up swimming off on my own, occasionally passing boats. I decided I'd get to the third bridge, then turn and come back to the pool. When I got there, a shrimping boat passed, only this one didn't give me enough time to get out of the way, and it sort of pushed me. It was then that I realized there were lots and lots of little animals in the water - not shrimp, though - crabs. And the water was only six inches deep. For some reason I hadn't noticed this before. And for some other reason, I still had to swim back to the pool rather than just stand up and walk. But after the shrimping boat went by, it stirred up the crabs at the bottom of the lake and they were all of a sudden EVERYWHERE. I swam all the way back to the pool, which didn't take as long as I'd thought it might, but my stomach and arms and legs kept scraping the bottom and I kept inadvertently hitting the crabs, which freaked me out. They were small crabs, about the size of a half dollar coin across their bodies. And I was terrified I was going to get genital crabs, too. I got back to the pool and dried off, and all my friends had left at this point. That's when I woke up, feeling really, really icky. I'm not really into dream interpretation, but I'm sure some psychoanalysts would have a field day with that one.
So...back to work.
Peace.
