Oh my goodness, the soreness...

This week and next, I'm seeing my trainer on both Monday and Tuesday. So even though she kicked my ass to the point I can barely hold my head up last night, I'm going back for more this afternoon. But really, I like it. A lot. On the one hand, I was on death's door after our session last night. On the other hand, I've never felt better. No, really. I was so euphoric after our workout yesterday.

Workouts with Jen are guaranteed to have each of the following elements:
total pain
total humiliation

In order to challenge me and also train as many muscles as possible all at once, she has me do lots of exercises that involve balancing on a bosu. I think those are made primarily for seated exercises, which she does make me do, but lately I've been doing lots of exercises while standing on the thing. Dome side up. It's hard enough just to balance standing still, but last night she had me do an exaggerated lawn mower with weights while standing...squat, reach down, bend, twist, rise, lift weight over head, repeat. Hard. As. Fuck. Also: you look like an idiot when you do these.

She also had me do lots of ab stuff, but she couldn't find the 8 pound medicine ball, so she gave me the 10. Two pounds makes a WORLD of difference. Have I mentioned yet that I'm really fucking sore?

We also did more cycling stuff, and I powered through the soreness there. After the first few minutes, my lower parts were desensitized to the pain and I was able to keep going. A few more days and I'll be able to handle the bike without too much soreness, I think.

Cool exercise: She had me on the bike and we turned up the resistance to something of a slight hill, and then she told me to imagine that my left leg doesn't exist. I have to get up that hill with just my right leg. My left leg stayed in the pedal strap, but I couldn't believe how much I felt that! Then we switched sides - I think we did 30 seconds like this on each side - then we cranked up the resistance and did a 30 second sprint at the end. It was challenging, but really cool.

Ahren and I played in the 9pm matchpoint tourney on BBO last night and played like total dookie, but we still scratched for .28. I'm slacking a bit on my 5 points per week goal this month, so I need to play a bit more. I just don't know where I'll find the time.

Wow so sore.

Peace.

The bosu is the inflatable disc thing, right?

I always wondered what to do with those.

It's not the inflatable disk, it's like half a stability ball mounted on a flat plastic base. You can use it either side up.
