Apr. 1st, 2007 08:37 amSo that article I linked to is pretty cool, but he failed to mention that we offer lessons and classes for new players, or to provide any contact info for the JBA. Umm, way to go.
Anyway, I'm just writing to kill a little time before Ahren wakes up (read: before I start kicking him in the bum until he rolls over and acknowledges existence). Yesterday morning, I didn't feel like driving out to the gym, so I asked the beloved roommate to go for a long walk with me. He agreed and we trekked up our street to "the five" (this is Ahren's way of referring to 5th St, which, btw, is nowhere near a 4th or 6th street, but that's just Cville for you.). Once there, we turned right. We've been living here for four months now, and we'd never turned right to see what's just beyond our subdivision. There's a nice little walking/biking trail along the five, so we just took that to the end. I estimated it to be about a mile; Ahren thinks I've drastically underestimated, which is certainly possible. For the way back, which is completely uphill, I decided to jog. It pisses me off that I work out nearly every day and can run on a treadmill or elliptical for several miles before dying and yet this smoker who never works out or even eats anything healthy is a better runner than I am. But I made it the entire length of the five without stopping to walk, though it was getting pretty brutal at the end. I guess that stretch probably isn't a whole mile, but I'm fairly certain that once you add in the walk from the five back down the street to my place, it probably is. So I think it's fair to say it was over a 2-mile round trip, and I was pleased enough with my level of exertion to call it a workout. I'm going to drive it this morning just to check the distance. We'll see.
Okay, time to start with the kicking.
Peace.
