Bridgewater makes national news...

So the town where I went to college has a population of about seven, but it's on the front page of cnn.com today because of this:

Not exactly the sort of thing you want to put your town on the map.

Jeez. I know that family! Well, I know of the family in that the area is FULL of Showalters. That's crazy. I've seen those pits dozens of times, and I think I knew somewhere that they were of liquified manure (though I think I blocked it from my brain), but...WOW, you'd think those things would be a little better ventilated...

Mike didn't go on this call, but his best friend went and it turned out to be his cousin. I talked to Jeff's wife today and they said they were expecting 1500 people to turn out for the various funerals and viewings. It's so very sad.

Luckily, I didn't have to go anywhere near that part of the county today. The lines of buggies would have torn me up.

Julie's sitter is Old Order. When I went in the door yesterday, she said "I can't believe this made the front page of the paper!" (talking about the DNR) I said "Joyce, I just heard it on the national news on the radio and Mike saw something on Fox News about it." She obviously listens to neither one, but it goes to show you how private they are.
