So I stayed up last night until 1:30 finishing up Harry Potter.
Before I started the book, I was pretty sure that Snape was good and that he would help Harry in the end, but would be unable to until then. I was really touched by the way that story played out.
I also thought Harry would probably die, but I changed my mind as the book went on. I was sure he would live (and that Remus and Tonks would die) when he was made godfather of their baby.
I cried pretty much straight through the last 150 pages. Partly because it was sad, scary, touching, and partly because I did not want it to be over!
I hopefully hypothesized that once Harry defeated Voldemort, his spells would be broken and then Harry, the true Master of Death, would be able to use the Hallows to TRULY bring back the dead, but that was a short-lived idea.
There was just far too much foreshadowing about Ginny for it not to work out in the end between them. I think the ending would've been more in doubt had there been less of that - not that I needed more suspense.
Do any of the books ever mention what became of Harry's grandparents? His parents were only 20 when he was born (according to the tombstones), so wouldn't his grandparents have been alive? I don't remember any talk of their demise.
I guess there are more things I wanted to talk about, but I can't remember what right now. I was up late.
In other news, I'm leaving in a few hours for FRFF. I have some things to get done at my office today, then it's off to NY, by way of Philadelphia tonight. I've written my list and checked it twice, but I'm still afraid I'll miss something, but I guess I just need to relax. I did misplace one of the tickets, but if I don't find it, we'll just do what we've had to do every other year and get them to look it up on the list of people who preordered. This has always been a hassle for me, but what do you expect when you mail someone a PIECE OF PAPER six months in advance? Yeesh. I can't remember why I didn't get it will called for me, but my decision may have had something to do with the fact that they lost the will call list last year...I swear, I love this festival, but some of the higher ups involved need to get it together.
I can't wait to get there...
Peace.
