Aug. 1st, 2007 08:11 pmDid I forget to mention that the AC hasn't worked in my apartment since before Falcon Ridge? It's almost 90 degrees in my apartment. I'm miserably hot.
But at least my router is working again so I can get online from home, which I haven't been able to do for almost a month now.
I found out on Monday that I won our unit's award for the most masterpoints in unit tournaments for NLM players this year (my uncle won the LM race, so it was a Massie sweep), so the unit is donating some money to the charity of my choice as a prize. I chose Heifer International, because that's my favorite charity. I just figured I'd plug it on here since it's been a while since I did that, and it's a really great cause. www.heifer.org
It was started by the Brethren Church, and the program basically donates farm animals or other useful things to needy families all over the world. But they also train them how to make the most out of their gift, and then when their animal has offspring, they give the first born to another needy family and pass on their training...so it really is the gift that keeps on giving. I just really like this program, and the testimonials on the website are absolutely meltworthy. As a person who is really terrible at coming up with gift ideas, I've been doing Heifer donations as presents for the people in my life who couldn't possibly use any more things, and every once in a while I donate more just for the heck of it. I love, love, love this charity.
mczen's car died today on his way to Syracuse, and by died, I mean lost its life and will not be revived. Perhaps another good charity would be the Someone Give McKenzie A New Car Program, but I'm not sure if it's tax deductible. At the very least, good vibes would be nice, because the poor guy has had a very stressful day, and is out one beloved car.
Peace.
