Internet Issues...Again

jianantonicWe canceled our Comcast service before we left. Well, we tried. They wouldn't let us cancel without turning in our leased modem, and paying our balance. We took care of the balance and then Emily took the modem back for me. They said we were canceled and everything was taken care of. End of story, right? Well, no. Almost two months after the last time a bill came from those fuckers, and more than a month after they canceled our service and told us everything was cool, they send me a bill. For MORE than I've ever had to pay in a month. I called to tell them I wasn't going to pay it and they said it's a balance forward, since we hadn't paid previously. Uh, no. We paid, you canceled us, we owe nothing. "Yes you do." "No we don't." "Yes you do." "You said it was paid. You wouldn't let us cancel without paying. You said we were done with you." "You owe $51."
Fuck you, Comcast.
We were so eager to cancel because they kept fucking up our bills and jerking us around, all the while providing totally shitty service. We thought that canceling the shit would end our relationship with those bastards. And you know, since we hadn't heard from them in over a month, we kinda figured we could wash our hands of them. Gah.
But other than that, it's a good day. I got a lot more writing done, and made it to the gym for a nice workout. My arms are more sore than they should be, probably because I went bowling yesterday with Wayne. He bowled 7 strikes in a row in our second game and finished with a 250 - a personal best by almost 100 points! He was really thrilled. I sucked, but that's no matter. I was happy for him.
Ahead of me is a weekend of bridge, then on Monday, Z and I leave for our next trip. We spend one night in DC, then it's off to Portland at 6am on Tuesday to play in their regional and visit with his family some more. That is, unless someone at FedEx Charlottesville has a baby between now and then (apparently there are a few pregnant wives), in which case Z has work here for the week and we'll stay. I guess we'll find out in the next few days.
