I've been invited to go to the Carrie Underwood/Keith Urban concert at the JPJ Thursday.  The tickets are decent and free, and I like that cheating song of Carrie's, but I don't know anything else by either of them.  I usually only enjoy shows when I'm already familiar with the music.  On the other hand, this is a pretty big show.  It might be a good story.  Should I go?  Or do y'all think I'll just get bored?
I have my butt MRI today.  The appointment is just before 5pm, but I'm not supposed to eat or drink anything from 1pm on.  Then I have to lie still for 30-90 minutes, in a claustrophobia-inducing tube.  Hopefully they'll just put my legs in and I'll get to keep my head on the outside.  I'm more nervous about how those 30-90 minutes will go than the results of the scan, which I will get at my next appointment on Friday.

My stomach is already starting to bother me.  I know it's just nerves.  I think I need valium or something.  I ALWAYS get an upset stomach whenever it's most inconvenient, like when we travel or when I have to be somewhere and stay still for an hour.

Z found all of our tax forms yesterday.  Even though he's self-employed and only paid in a few hundred bucks from when he worked a few weeks with the temp agency here, he got to deduct enough that he didn't owe anything, and is even getting a slight refund.  We haven't looked at mine yet but I'm hopeful we can find enough deductions that I'm not totally fucked.  I had to cash out of $13K worth of stocks this year when those stocks went private, so I'm afraid I'll be hosed.  We'll see soon enough.  I'll have to do those this week, since we'll be in Gatlinburg all next week.

Anyway, I'm off to work.  If you're feeling opinionated, vote on the best cake flavors here.

JEALOUS!!!

Dude, I can't stand Carrie underpants, but Keith Urban is one seriously kick-ass songwriter and guitarist! I'm totally jealous of you!

Also, I worked "self-employed" for a short time and our taxes are still fucked from it. Be sure to go somewhere and get it done rather than trying to sort it out yourselves - just a tip.

Good luck with your butt scan today! I'm having my baby scan this morning - let's hope he's upside down, dammit!

I paid 350 dollars last year to watch someone else put the numbers from my w-2's into TurboTax, only he didn't type fast so I could've done it faster myself. Z has been self-employed for 12 years, so I'm going to let him handle the hard stuff.

Good luck with the baby scan:)

Hm - where's you get it done? John and I have an appt. with H&R Block. We're a little worried about doing it right because I was on disability this year and my asswipe ex-employer didn't send us a proper W-2. We expect to pay H&R roughly $100 to do the taxes.

I went to H&R Block as well. The shitty thing was that I totally could've done my own, but my ex-husband insisted that we file jointly. He was being such a prick about it and it was right in the middle of the divorce, so I was afraid if I gave him trouble over it, he'd prolong the divorce bullshit, so I just went and got it done. But the fucker hadn't paid ANYTHING because he's a waiter and makes all his income in cash, which meant not only did I pay a guy to file for us, I had to shell out $1200 out of pocket to pay HIS taxes, when I'd have been due a refund. Am I bitter about this? Perhaps.

But after that shit went down I told him that I would absolutely castrate him if he tried to get one more penny out of me in the divorce, so at least it gave me leverage, if nothing else.

On next week's episode: How Jeremy's laziness cost me $60,000 in profit on the sale of my house.

Yeah, we're filing jointly + the disability issue + John messed up the taxes two years ago and we're still paying. :-( So, he wants to go to H&R Block in the hopes that we can wipe out the IRS debt. *hopes*

OOF - look at all the shit you've dealt with. Sheesh!

Yeah, don't get divorced. It sucks. Also, don't marry bad people.

Not saying Jer's a bad person, just that our relationship brought out the worst in both of us, but was particularly difficult for me since I'm the one who wanted the divorce and he's the one who wanted to stop me from getting one.

Anyway, going to an accountant will be a good way to clear up any IRS issues. It will cost a little more, but it's worth it to alleviate any of that stress. That's how I felt about last year.

If you want an accountant for next year, one of my very good friends and bridge partners is a CPA who will be doing my taxes from next year onward. I could give you his info if you want. He's definitely the sweetest guy ever so I feel like I should spread the word about him as much as possible:)

I'd certainly like to talk to your CPA friend about our one question regarding Jenna's disability information. If we can get past that one thing, our taxes will be a snap to do on our own, and we won't have to pay H&R Block $100. Thanks!

MRI

Do not fret thyself. I've had numerous MRIs (in fact, I get paid to do them as a guinea pig for the future of science), and they are nothing to worry about. The best part is that most of the time they let you fall asleep in the scanner. I've actually always gotten MRIs done of my brain, and thus far I'm still fine, as far as I can tell, anyway. Unless they have an effing HUGE MRI, your head will probably be well outside the scanner. You will have to take out any earrings and any other metal things you may be wearing. But really, it's fine. Don't worry!

Yeah, I've had a CT scan before, which was also inside a giant tube, but only lasted like 5 minutes or so, if I'm remembering correctly. It's not the claustrophobia I'm worried about really...I'm sure I'll be fine...it's the not being able to move. I just fear extreme discomfort, I guess.

It's all nice and padded usually, and I've gotten away with slight movements before. You can always check to see if they're between scans if you need to move.

I'd go to the Carrie/Keith show.
I'm not a huge country fan, but I do like some of her songs. Not really familiar with what he does, other than Nicole Kidman...

As for the MRI, if you start to get close-nutty, close your eyes and think of wide open spaces, and that the humming is just...um...low flying planes or something. :)

You've made me think about the MRI process...

I know a lot of people have problems with small spaces, and that makes the Tube unbearable for them. But I actually like small spaces. I like tents. When I was a kid I liked to sit under tables and desks. My old apartment had slanty attic spaces and my bedroom was a wedge.

So if I ever have to have an MRI, I don't think the tiny tunnel would bother me. It might actually be comforting. Staying still for 30-90 minutes, THAT might be more of a problem!

Yeah, I was big on enclosed spaces when I was a kid, too. In fact, I'm dying for a canopy bed so I can enclose myself in it. It's not the small space I'm actually worried about so much as the not moving for an hour.

Go. I would go and I know little about either. I didn't watch Idol back then. I do like the cheating song, too. So, let me know how it was. I gave my left arm for nosebleed Eagles tickets this week. I'd take any free show right now. HA!

Heh...actually my friend who had the free tickets had another friend who REALLY wanted to go so I told her to take them. Maybe next time ;)
