Apr. 23rd, 2008 11:22 pmMaybe I'm carded out or something, but I played some pretty atrocious bridge today. I also played some very good bridge, in between bouts of shittiness, and Z and I had a 55% game at the club today, then a decentish IMP game on BBO for 1.08 points today. Feels like chump change after double digit days in Gatlinburg, but such is life between regionals.
I'd forgotten over the winter that our A/C doesn't work, and that's starting to be a problem now. We're not going to be around much this summer, so I figure we'll just put our window unit in when we are here and hope not to get busted by the HOA police during those short spans. And maybe next year we'll spend the money to actually fix the thing. For now, our little room fan is enough.
My brother is coming to town tomorrow with his wife and two girls, so I'm excited to see them. We're leaving town the next day, though, so we'll miss out on the big party my mom's throwing to introduce Miss Frankie to the world. I'll be en route to my own birthday party, but I'm pretty sure with the excitement of the new baby, my parents have forgotten that my birthday is Sunday. They pretty much forgot A's this year, too, though, so it's not like I feel horrible. Of course we're not the favorites when their other kid gives them two grandbabies. And being the favorite isn't worth becoming a mom to me. That sounds more cynical than it should. My parents love me very much and they're great parents, and I don't think they're really forgetting my birthday, so much as letting it take a back seat to the fact that the babies will be in town. It's to be expected. And I'll always be their favorite daughter.
So we've got our travel plans mostly figured out through mid-June now. It looks like I won't see Virginia soil again for about eight weeks. DC on Friday, Texas Sat-Tues, Oregon for a month, then fly to Raleigh for some bridge, Myrtle Beach Massie family vacation the next week, then on to Penticton, if Z is fortunate enough to get hired for that one, or if we're fortunate enough not to be completely broke by then. I should probably arrange for someone to house sit while we're away. Hmm. I probably should've thought of that sooner.
I'm up way later than usual, but that's because I just never bothered to readjust after Gatlinburg, where I stayed up until the wee hours of each morning. I might as well keep this schedule, since I'll be on the west coast in a week.
Peace.
