Jun. 4th, 2008 06:35 pmI'm having a pretty good time here at the beach with my family. I sprained my wrist playing guitar hero -- I guess just holding the controller too tight or something -- it's not very comfortable to play, but I rock, so it's all good. I've topped all of Adrian's high scores, which is really saying something, because I've never seen him not be the best at any video game ever. Like I said, I rock.
Frankenstein is a real cutie, and Lucy and I are having a good time together, too. She's never been super close with me, and even though I've always wished she were more attached to me, it's been okay that she's not because she can be a real brat. But this week, she's really latched onto me, and it melts my heart when she asks to sit next to me at every meal, and follows me around wherever I go, and thinks everything I do is hilarious. Aww, I love my nieces.
Tonight I'm going to see the SATC movie with my sister-in-law. We have to go to a late show after the baby's asleep, so I hope I can stay awake. Rachel and I both are notorious for falling asleep in movie theaters, so I've been resting for most of the day...but not sleeping.
So now that it looks like the primary is as officially over as it can be for now, I guess I should weigh in. I am disappointed that Hillary never caught up with Obama, and I am sad that she won't be the nominee. But like I've always said, I will have NO PROBLEM voting for Obama in November, or supporting him from now until then. I do hope that he chooses her as VP -- not only because I want her in the White House, but also because it will put her in a good position to run again in 8 years, when she will still be younger than John McCain is now.
I also hope he chooses her because I do not think it's wise for him to choose Jim Webb, who is apparently a frontrunner. I love Jim Webb, but it is VERY IMPORTANT that he stay put. His seat in the Senate was incredibly hard won -- he won by only a few hundred votes, and that was the contest that threw the Senate to the Democrats. If he vacates that seat, it is very likely that a Republican will fill it, and that will not be good for the party.
I understand if Obama doesn't pick Hil -- there's been animosity; some say he needs a southern white man to win; whatever. But I hope he picks her and I still hope she'll be President one day...starting in 2013. I actually don't like her very much as a person, but as a politician, I love her, and I was actually sort of surprised by my own passion for her in this election. But no matter what happens at the convention, I'll be voting for the Democratic nominee in November, and I'll know that's the right way to cast my vote.
Peace.

Date: 2008-06-06 02:51 am (UTC)And for the record, I think saying Hillary is bad because she doesn't embody "change" is bullshit. If Hillary isn't change, then neither is Obama. Their policies and ideas are really very similar, Obama's just all about the soundbytes, which is why it was hard for me to get behind him in the first place -- nice rhetoric, but thin in content. I knew what Hillary was talking about, and I liked it. But at the bottom line, they're very similar, but with different allies in Washington and beyond -- that could be very powerful.
I honestly don't expect Clinton to be the VP selection, but I think people who say she'd be a bad choice are wrong.
