Jun. 10th, 2008 06:55 amAs I suspected I would be, I'm quite sore this morning. I thought my abs would get the worst of it, but really I think it's my arms that are sorest, which is strange, because I never really thought of how much of an arm workout yesterday's class was. But we did spend a lot of time holding ourselves up, so I guess that's part of it. Add the moving furniture and I guess that's enough to make them ache a bit. I'm looking forward to sitting in the pool this afternoon.
I woke up at a totally unholy hour again this morning, which sucks because I was up late (for me: 10:15) last night, so I'm not feeling particularly rested this morning. I guess I'll try to peel myself out of bed in a few minutes and go over to the clubhouse to get some work done. Now that the kids are out of school for the summer, I hope it's still a peaceful environment over there, but I'm afraid it won't be. Fingers crossed.
I need to get the pictures off my camera so I can post some of our beach trip photos. I miss my nieces so much. The next time I see Frankenstein, she'll be a whole different person, 'cause they change so much at this stage. I know she's only 2 months old now and doesn't do much, but she had so much more personality than she did when she was first born. She smiles and giggles a lot, spits up like a pro, and also can be very moody. I would never say that the sound of a wailing baby is pleasant, but there's something about her crying that I just find endearing. I love how at her current size, she's so easy to cuddle with and amenable to being held by just about anyone, and I know as she gets older, she'll have a much stronger preference for her parents, and she'll be heavier and more mobile, so it will be more difficult to get my Frankensnuggles in, but I also can't wait until she gets older and starts walking and talking and really interacting. Lucy hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows, but I still love seeing her every chance I get, and I know that as she gets older, she'll learn things like manners and motor skills that will make her easier to deal with, too. I think four years is a good age difference, because they won't be toddlers at the same time, and they'll pretty much go through all their difficult developmental phases separately. It's like an insurance policy -- no matter what's going on in their lives, I'll always have at least one niece who's not a total drag. Or something:) Even at their brattiest, I still love them completely.
Lucy has always been a really interesting kid. She's been doing the joint custody thing since she was just a few months old, so she's never really had separation anxiety, and she splits her time between Philadelphia and NYC, so she's a very savvy kid, too. She's totally fearless, which is a blessing and a curse. She doesn't have freakouts, but she also overestimates her invincibility. At the beach, she had no problem getting knocked around or pulled under by big waves, because I was always standing with her, ready to grab her when she went under. She kept trying to get me to take her "really, really, really far out so that we can't even see the shore!" She's a very trusting girl, at least when it comes to family. She's really outgoing, too, and for a four-year-old, she's got a really cool personality. She's going to be a popular girl, especially if she manages not to inherit my flat chest and bad skin. But so far she has got all my other physical traits, except black hair. Hers is only brown. Still, she's my little clone. Mom thinks Frankie looks like me, but I don't think so. She's going to look like her mother, which is great, because her mother is a cutie. I'm really lucky that my family is so rad.
Being an aunt is like the best thing ever. I recommend it to anyone. Encourage your siblings to get knocked up.
Peace.
