I'm still sorta battling writer's block and the procrastination bug, but I did get some good stuff done for today anyway:

Reality television stoops to new lows.
Ask AisleDash
New Perpetual Tourist on Cancun.

I need to write a new Destination Wedding post for Tuesday.  What's a good location in North America that I should write about?  Most of the obvious places have already been done -- what might I not have thought of?

Considering the fact that McKenzie flew here with NO bags, and I flew with only two small carry-ons, it's amazing how filled with crap our hotel room is.  We check out tomorrow, and I'll go on McKenzie's FedEx route with him, unless Harvey wants to drive 2.5 hours up from Klamath Falls to play bridge with me.  He offered to do that for the Wednesday club game, but ended up having to cancel.  Anyway after Z's done, we drive up to Salem to get what sleep we can (it's a four or five hour drive just to Salem, so we won't get there until late) and then get up ass early to drive to Portland for our 6am flight to DC.  Those 48 hours are going to suck balls.

We haven't decided yet if one of us will need to go home to fetch a car for the week in Reston or not.  It all depends on whether or not my cousin will be taking her car on her trip to Lexington or not.  If not, we'll use it and not worry about our own, and then we'll drop it off to her in either Lexington or Charlottesville on Sunday when we go home.  The logistics of this are a little tricky, but should work out.  Our other option is for Z to go home by bus on Sunday to fetch our wheels.  This would be a little more convenient for us, as then he'd also be able to fetch a better wardrobe for both of us.  I only packed one pair of pants, some sweats, and tank tops, and he's only got a couple pairs of shorts and 3 shirts.  We both got a few things at Goodwill, but none of these things is really appropriate for Emily's party, though she assures us that whatever we wear will be fine.  It's just that there will be pictures, and I don't want to be the one who looks like she just came from the gym while everyone else is dressed up.

Then again, there's always shopping.  As if I need more stuff.

Peace.

Earlier this year, I went to a destination wedding in Banner Elk, NC, which to me at least I never thought of as a destination wedding spot (it's near Boone, but in the middle of nowhere). It was held at a winery/blueberry farm (http://www.blueberryvilla.com/). Very pretty. Very peaceful. INSANE number of stars at night. No pollution (noise, light, air). There was a bonfire and we made s'mores at night. We had a sparkler sendoff for the couple, who rode off in an Excalibur. They have a wedding gallery on that website for pictures of the place, though they don't really show enough of the gorgeous scenery. And the wine is wonderful there. We did the wine tasting thinking we'd only get 1 or 2 bottles, and ended up buying at least 1 of every one they had, 2 of some of them, and even 3 bottles of the favorite.

Any chance you got my mesg last night (through Mac's phone)? I'll call again tonight.

And most likely you guys can borrow my car for the week if you want. McKenzie's borrowed it before and knows how to drive it and what not (it's a stick-shift). We can discuss that tonight too.

Thanks for the tip. I have to include galleries of at least 10 images with all of my DW posts, so that makes it hard -- some of the best DW spots are places that you wouldn't think of, and there are no images online. But I'll see what I can find.

Z got the message -- I wish I had planned better to play in the trials, but I didn't even think about it until it was too late. We're not staying for the whole tournament, and I'm pretty booked up for the time we're there. Thanks for thinking of me, though.

That's okay about the car -- I know we'll be able to get around while we're there; the issue is getting back to Charlottesville, which we can do with my cousin's car, because it's sort of on the way to where she is. If we have to fetch our car, it won't be the worst thing, because it'll be good to get better clothes anyway.

Hm there were at least 30 pictures there. =) But I don't know if it fits the rest of your requirements and you probably don't have a lot to go off of. But yeah, I didn't realize you have to include at least 10 images as a requirement. Wow, that makes it a lot harder to write posts I'd think.

Ok, well the trials are before the tourney so if you were already coming in early or haven't booked plane tix yet it actually doesn't conflict! Is starts the Tuesday before nationals at 1pm and continues Wednesday and Thursday morning if necessary. (ok it conflicts with GNTs, but no event you can just show up to and compete in)

Ah ok. Maybe you'll bump into Charlottesville ppl playing in Reston and be able to get a ride? Oh speaking of Reston, I know a pair of former juniors (friends of Steve Altus, who I know Mac knows), who are looking for teammates for KOs on Tues-Wed if you guys know anyone looking.

Our tickets get us there on Wednesday night, I think.

I'm sure we'll work out the car situation. It's not a big concern, just sorta complicated. It also just so happens that Z and I are available for Tues-Wed KOs, because one of our teammates had a medical situation and can't play. We're playing with my uncle in the Thur-Fri KO and then that's it for us at this one, cause we've got a wedding on the weekend. Do these guys have Z's contact info? Would I know them?

I'll ask my friends who just got married for permission with their images, but the place they got married last weekend, The Woods at Wihakowi (http://thewoodsvt.com) might be an option for you. The owners do want to do weddings, but of the low key variety (ie not worrying about $40/head for one thing). It had lodging on site with more in the area, and a full array of outdoor activities to keep people busy on site. If you're interested let me know.
