Aug. 25th, 2008 09:34 amI'm feeling pretty icky lately. I'm going through some personal shit that I'm not going to blog publicly about, but it's all tying my stomach in knots and I just want it to be over. The good news is that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. The bad news is that's it's a long tunnel.
But there have been high points. On Friday, Z and I drove up to Vienna for the Great Big Sea/Eddie From Ohio show at Wolf Trap. They were co-headliners, but EFO was second, on account of it being their hometown show. I loved both sets, but I do think it would have been a better show if Great Big Sea had closed. For their set, everyone in the audience was up and dancing -- very high energy -- but everyone sat throughout the EFO set. But that's just the nature of the music. Both shows were excellent, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to catch up with GBS. I also had forgotten that Murray from Moxy Fruvous is now a GBS member, so it was pretty exciting to see him. I didn't get into Fruvous until after the hiatus, so I never saw them live. I feel very, very robbed in that regard.
We stayed overnight with Kerry and Jill, had a lovely breakfast at Chez Frey, and then drove back to Charlottesville on Saturday afternoon. It's been a very surreal weekend, as I have a lot of awfulness just hanging over my head, but I get to get the first bit of it behind me this afternoon. I have more shit to deal with later this week, though, and I am concerned about my productivity. Since I'm new to all these blogs, I want to be good and active, but I'm so checked out right now, I'm not sure I can write anything of substance. I'm going to try, though. It's way past time to pull myself out of bed and try to get some work done.
Peace.
