Sep. 17th, 2008 10:48 amWe landed in Portland last night at 8:40pm, which was about an hour too late to catch a glimpse of Mt. Hood. It's cloudy right now, so I still haven't seen any of my mountains yet, but I will...
I woke up at 4am at first, but then was able to get back to sleep and made it almost to 7 the second time around. Now we're just lying around waiting for Dave to wake up so we can go get breakfast together.
I finished Dry yesterday in Salt Lake City, then got through about 150 pages of the second Harry Potter book on the flight to Portland. I enjoyed Dry quite a bit. It was less disturbing than Running with Scissors, but I guess also less funny. I still laughed a lot, even though the book really upset me in a lot of places. But I love how honest Burroughs is. I'm still not sure I can recommend these books in good conscience, because they are so upsetting, but I will say that I really loved them.
The Obama shirt didn't really get much attention after we left DC. Oh well. Now I want to get out and see my mountains!
Peace.
