A question I've been asking a lot of people lately

If money weren't an issue, and you didn't have to worry about family, where would you live?

Most folks want to be within some proximity of their relations -- for the purposes of this hypothetical question, let's just assume that this isn't an issue. 

So where would you live, and why would you want to be there?

I have a hard time imagining myself anywhere but CT. I've tried to move to Seattle and California in the past, but didn't try excessively hard for job reasons. When I was looking to buy a house, I toyed with moving to Massachusetts because I love the state and houses were cheaper but I realized it doesn't feel like home at all. I have no idea if that's me being neurotic and set in my ways or if it's a core truth in me about where I want to be.

But at any rate, I have a house, I have roots now, I'm happy here. :) I love New England and how compact it is. And old.

That's a hard question. I've only ever lived 4 places in my life, and none of them were that ideal... money and family aside. I think if money were no issue, I wouldn't want to be tied down to any one place at all.

either northampton (this is my soul home) or maybe a few years in Paris. I love paris, but money and family keep me from it. But I wouldn't want to be there permanently - this is where I live.

Vermont... very very rural VT.

I love Northampton, sure.... and I liked moving back there, but the more I live around western MA, the more I feel like I want to be back in VT.

As for why.... there is nowhere else I've ever felt as at peace.

Seattle! That's why I live here. Lemme tell you, it is HARD to be away from family so long. But I'm surviving. :)
