Things are, for the most part, quite good. Harvey and I had a pretty solid day at the bridge table, and had our best event finish so far, 3rd overall in B in the 41-table open pairs. I would like to be 1st in A, like we were after one session on Wednesday, but I'll take it. It's ridiculous how pitiful the masterpoint awards are for pair events, though. We've been over 53% every single session, scratched every time, and we're still only around 16 points for the week so far. I guess we've played 8 sessions total now. Two sessions of decent play in any KO will get you that much. I feel like having 8 straight above-average sessions in open events is a much bigger accomplishment. Oh well.

I had really awful stomach cramps today and almost didn't want to play this evening, because I couldn't sit up comfortably. I took two different kinds of painkiller before anything worked, and I spent the whole evening feeling quite loopy as a result.

We had dinner tonight with Chris, Tammy, and Robert Todd. He's a rad guy, but even if he weren't, I'd like him anyway because his name is so fun to say. BobTodd. Todd is his surname. McKenzie likes it when people have two first names and no last name -- but he's just the opposite. Whenever someone asks his name and he says "McKenzie," they always follow up with "What's your first name?" ALWAYS. It amuses me. But it can get annoying. Why wouldn't his first name be McKenzie? It's not that uncommon.

About a million times in my life as a bridge player, strangers have randomly asked me "How old are you?" I mean, I don't mind telling my age, but I just feel like people are so patronizing about it, and it bugs me when they ask. Usually I don't answer out of annoyance. I just try to give them the look that says "Do you realize you're being inappropriate?" But no one ever does, so today I adopted a new line. Whenever someone asks me how old I am, I say "I'm 25. How old are YOU?" It's not like people even give a shit. They just like to point out that I don't fit in. Yeah, I know. Thanks. Shut up now so I can school you in bridge. :)

Two more days here at Seaside, then priority one is to get back to the gym, wherever we go next. I am not fond of not working out. But I am having a great time here. This is a good tournament, and the D20 directors are loads of fun.

Peace.

Tell them you're 50, and then say "Yeah, I'm well-preserved." Or ask them what they weigh. :-D
