The only thing left to pack is my laptop. We're leaving for the airport in about half an hour, then we'll have about 14 hours of transit before we're back at our place. (PDX to ATL, ATL to DCA, Metro to Vienna where Mom will be waiting, drive 2 hours back to Cville. It sucks, but it could be worse.) I'm so bummed to be leaving, because I know I won't be back here before mid-February. And I love it here! Even in winter. Especially in winter, actually.
But I love Charlottesville, too. I just don't have as much fun or intellectual stimulation there. And the mountains are too small. I'm starting to stress over the logistics of moving here. Do I officially change my address to Portland, or do I get a PO box in Charlottesville and maintain Virginia residency? Do I keep my car or sell it? (I want to sell it, but I'm lazy about it.) What's the best way to go about renting out the apartment? Since I want to rent out the entire space and leave my furniture there, I think it's best to go through a property management firm, just in case whoever rents it does a lot of damage or doesn't pay rent on time, they'd be better enforcers than I would. But that means I can't keep getting mail there and my taxes and insurance will have to change and I don't know diddly about any of that stuff.
Sigh.
But here's the fun stuff happening in Charlottesville, for anyone who wants to join in...tomorrow night (Wednesday) is a Tracy Grammer show at the Gravity Lounge. Thursday is a Girlyman show at the Gravity Lounge. There's a possible camping trip this weekend (weather and fatigue pending).
I also have to hunker down and do a lot of work. Regional tournament stuff, Boston travel plans, go through a month of mail, etc...fun times.
Already I'm just anxious to get back to town and get to bed.
Peace.
