Oct. 31st, 2008 10:59 amI have election FEVER. This is the first year that I've paid really close attention to the polls (and I have been checking them daily since, like, February), so I don't know how the look and feel of the polls now compares to 2004. I kind of remember thinking that Kerry had it pretty much in the bag until election day came and went and I spent the next few days crying and throwing up. This is why I'm still nervous as hell and trying not to get my hopes up. I already voted, for which I am very glad, because when I showed up at the polling place, neither my name nor address matched what's on the voter registration records. Since I was an early voter, they got it changed in the system and let me cast a real vote, but I wonder if I would have been turned away had I shown up on election day and not matched their records. (This was not a problem for me in the primaries, but that was before Z and I got hitched -- still, the address was not a match then, either, what with the 911 change in my neighborhood.) I thought I'd changed all the necessary documents, but apparently the DMV, SSA, and the registrar don't share records.
It's rainy and cold outside here in Salem, and we're driving up to Portland today to move some stuff into Dave's house. I'm nervous about getting big furniture pieces into his basement, because those stairs are difficult to maneuver even without a sofa in your arms. Hopefully we'll get to have lunch at either than Indian place or the Lebanese restaurant...have I mentioned lately how much I love Portland? It bears repeating. I love, love, love, love, love the Rose City. And I get to live there soon -- gah, I'm so lucky. And now, to start the move...
Peace.
