Jamestown is always an interesting experience.  I've been three times in the past three years, and probably 12 or more times in my life, and the information you get on the tour is always different.  Today, for instance, was the first time I'd heard any mention of the Africans at Jamestown.  But the weird thing was that all three different interpreters told us the same story about the Africans arriving there.  Z suggested we were hearing about it because it's Black History Month.  Perhaps.  Not one mention of Pocahontas this time, either.

The trip really did take all day, so when we got home I was tired and anxious for bed, but Mom wanted me to come by and try on a prototype for the skirt she's making me.  She's an expert seamstress and can throw a piece together in no time, but she always makes prototypes first.  She made this one Frauline Maria style, out of some old drapes.  It fit just fine, so I think she's going to make the actual skirt on Sunday.  Today she's running all over VA with my in-laws, first to the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, then Appomattox, and then to the farm, where I'll meet them with my dad and brother.  I didn't want to do all the other stuff, and I really didn't want to miss yoga for it, so we arranged this compromise, which I think will work nicely.  The weather's great and I can't wait to see the farm again.  This plan also gives me a couple of hours to myself this afternoon, which in theory could be used to clean out my car.  And laundry!  Woo.

Sometime before tomorrow I need to put together another bag of stuff to send to Portland.  Most of my summer clothes are already there, and I guess I could send pretty much all the rest of my clothes that I won't need in Florida, since I'll be going to PDX myself in a week, and that can be my base of operations starting then...I'll only be in Cville for a few more weeks before the move, so I don't really need to leave anything here.  Might as well just pack whatever fits and is ready to go.

I was listening to "Old Dominion" yesterday and I thought "Shit!  I'm the person in the song!  Packing up my 'Impala' and making my move out west!"  I hope it's not a prophesy.  I adore Virginia, but even I'll admit that the Blue Ridge is no Cascade Range.  Still, good song...and now I want to refer to the Subaru as "the Impala" from now on:)

I bet if I get my ass out of bed right now, I'd have time to get some shit done and feel good about my productivity this morning...

Peace.
