Feb. 19th, 2009 12:09 pmPlaying in the pairs yesterday, it was our event to lose. Unfortunately, I watched myself just bleed matchpoints throughout the second half, and we did lose. Third place. Meh. There's one woman in this district who really, really, really rubs me the wrong way. Whenever I play against her, my brain turns to irritated mush, and I do very poorly. In most cases, I do well against the people I dislike, but not her. She always bests me, and that makes me dislike her even more. Phooey.
I was tired last night and pretty disappointed in my game, though I still played generally well. Just not as well as I know I can. Sigh.
We played against two local juniors who were very nice. They were solid players, too -- I gave them my card so we could hopefully get together sometime for some home bridge, or maybe even at the club. Other young bridge players in the same city? More points for Portland:)
I'm getting a little bit of work done, but it's slow going this morning. My brain is sort of all over the place at the moment and I'm having a hard time focusing on any one topic. Maybe I should take a shower and start some laundry so I can at least feel somewhat accomplished...
Peace.

Date: 2009-02-19 07:16 pm (UTC)Andrew Dubay (goes to Reed, might be playing much less these days), Matthew Stahlman (NW guy, not sure if he's Washington or Oregon bound), Mitch Towner (goes to Lewis and Clark). And whomever those juniors you ran into last night were!
