I love the Portland Saturday Market so much. I spent three hours there today, mostly just browsing, but of course a girl's gotta do some shopping.  I worked hard this week, after all.

I had some incredibly yummy potato pancakes, bought some really rad stuff for myself and others, and rode the bus and the Max without getting completely fucked.  I think I took a longer than necessary route home, but I made it.  That's what counts:)  I ended up napping for a while when I got home, so I don't think I'll be able to go to sleep soon, which sort of sucks.

I haven't really had a full night's sleep in a long time.  I think I need to look into a mattress pad for our bed.  We had one in Virginia, but that's gone missing.  I don't know how we'd get it out here anyway.  I just paid off my credit card, and for the first time in a few months, I'm comfortable with the state of our finances, but I have a lot of mid-range to big-ticket items that I need to buy, and I can't afford them all right away.  Of course I'm not willing to take away from my Saturday Market budget, either.  Things I'll need, soonish:

a new tent
mattress pad
comforter
new running shoes (should be a top priority, but I'm willing to put this off for a little while in favor of other list items)
plane tickets -- I'm definitely going to Naples next month, back to Virginia for Thanksgiving and possibly for another visit in October or early November, San Diego after Thanksgiving, either Daytona or Salt Lake City in November, and Reno at the end of the year.  There are a few other trips that I haven't yet decided on -- whether I can go depends on money, mostly, but also McKenzie's schedule.  I'm hoping to make it for at least four days of Glitter Gulch in Vegas next month, and I'd like to fill in my own regional calendar a little better for the end of the year.

Z won't be playing recreationally anymore until after next year -- he needs to keep his points down so he can compete in the 5K Spingolds again.  I support that completely, but it's a bummer for me because it means I don't get to play with him, and he might not come with me when I go to tournaments.  Of course, he's directing some now, so maybe he will.  I've adjusted well to this seat of the pants lifestyle of ours, but it is still a drag sometimes not to know what's going on until the last minute.  And I nag the hell out of Z trying to figure it out, because let's face it, I'll always be type A, no matter how much I mellow out.

Anyway it's going to be a good week.  Kelly's in Oregon, and we're going to do some hiking, camping, and probably a little drinking (did someone say CHATKA TIME?!), and then when I bid her adieu, I'll pick McKenzie up at the airport, and then once I've satisfactorily welcomed him home, it'll be time to pick up my family.  Good times.

When are the rest of you coming to visit, eh?

Peace.
