Now for something meaningful

jianantonicSo I'd complained a lot about work lately, but I just want to let everyone know that things are a *lot* better now. I still get frustrated with some things, but now my coworkers have a better understanding of why, and I can see that they're trying to accommodate my demands for perfection ;) It's partially just that we sell and do work on items that are worth thousands of dollars and lots of emotions - we should operate smoothly, you know? But we do, for the most part, and I am able to relax a lot more.
Yesterday Cheri had the lab out - the lab is a little briefcase with a microscope, RI index tester, flourescense tester, and a few other gidgets and gadgets. I'm almost done with my diamond grading classes, which so far have been only out of books and nothing hands on. Anxious to apply my new wealth of knowledge, I asked Cheri if she would help me identify some characteristics in diamonds under the scope. It took forever to get it set up to where I could actually see into it - I've never been good with microscopes - but Cheri was very helpful and I am better than I thought I would be at finding stuff. And of course I received praise from the higher ups about how quickly I learn. Rah!
Other exciting news from work - Randy bought a really cheap lot of nice black diamonds. He knew we'd sell a bunch because ever since I got my engagement ring, lots of customers have asked about them. Anyhow, he also bought them in pairs, knowing full well I'd immediately pick two for earrings - which I did, which Matt finished yesterday. I now have 1.36ctw black diamond earrings to match my 3.19ct engagement ring - get me a pendant and I'll have 5 carats:) Before you start thinking about the silver spoon that I was born with in my mouth or up my ass or something, chill out. I am completely broke and these are a present from Jeremy, who is also broke but less terrified of debt.
Enough about work.
Lately I've been spending my spare time playing a lot of gin and talking to Shelly. For those of you who don't know her, Shelly is the queen of the Edheads. Besides the band itself, Shelly is the tie that binds us all together. I feel infinitely cooler just knowing Shelly, because Shelly knows all the shit about everyone - in the band, close to the band - you want news, talk to Shelly. It's one thing to know what color toothbrush a certain rockstar uses (*ahem* you know who you are), but to know who they're sleeping with is much more fun. And on top of dishing out all the juice, Shelly's a really bitchin' girl to talk to - about her boyfriend, especially *wink*. She'll be at the bachelorette party and the wedding, so look out, for she is awesome.
Jer and I are getting our marriage license today, then it's off to Charlottesville for the wedding shower that Emily is throwing. I say to Charlottesville, but I have no clue where the fuck it is or what the fuck we're doing. I should call and ask if I need to wear a swimsuit or bring a bicycle or something. Now that would be a wedding shower. But it will be great because Emily is throwing it and she is good at this kind of thing. :)
Okay...I think my work here is done. Off to play some gin. Peace.
