Nov. 5th, 2011 08:02 pmGetting back from Guam was a BEEEEYOTCH. It was 25 hours of travel time, of which I slept about 3 total hours, mostly at the very beginning of the journey. I could have kissed the ground when I landed in Portland. I'm normally a very good and patient traveler and the stresses of flight don't really get to me, but 25 hours of travel? That just blows.
I crossed the international dateline and took a redeye flight all on the last day of DST. Talk about messing up my internal clock. I told Z I would need to sleep, but I needed him to wake me up before too long so that I could readjust to this time zone. He let me sleep for a couple of hours, and then I had the hardest time of my life waking up. I often have to get up at nothing o'clock to catch long flights or some such, but forcing myself out of bed when I was in the middle of making up a big fat sleep deficit was an extreme challenge. I was not pleasant to my husband. There was whining.
I'm throwing a baby shower tomorrow, so tonight I went out and got all the supplies I need for games and such. I didn't have the energy to actually set anything up, though, so all these random baby supplies are all over my kitchen, and as tired as I am, I can just see myself waking up tomorrow and stumbling out of my room in a daze and wondering when the foxtrot I had a baby.
I'll say more about Guam later, but for now I'm going to bed and I will sleep for a nice long time :)
