I have a lot to catch up on. I'm in Charlottesville now after the five-day Edhead cruise. It was spectacular, but when I got off the boat, I started feeling really sick. So sick that I went to urgent care this morning. The doctor said the "good news" is that it's not strep. But with strep, I could get a shot and would feel better right away. With whatever virus this is, I just have to wait it out and treat the symptoms. And the doc strongly advised against running my 5k on Thursday. Well, foxtrot. I'm extremely frustrated about this, but hoping that I make a miraculous recovery today and don't have to sit out the race.

But one thing cheered me up a lot this morning. My brother sent a photo of my niece's latest homework. She was supposed to write a journal entry that answered the question "Where do you see yourself in 20 years?" Her answer: drinking beer with my friends.

That's my girl. Ambitious and goal-oriented.
