Vegetarian Joy
Jun. 11th, 2003 04:07 pmLast night, Jeremy introduced to me the best invention ever in the history of mankind (I may revise this statement when, say, a cure for cancer becomes available...). First a little background. I became a vegetarian when I was 9, giving up all meat except for chicken. When I was 12, I gave up chicken, too, and became a strict vegetarian. For those of you thinking, "does she eat fish, though?" the answer is no. I'm a vegetarian. Vegetarians don't eat fish. People who call themselves vegetarians but do eat fist are fooling themselves, just like I wasn't really veg until giving up chicken. They are people who don't eat land animals. Anyway I really did miss the taste of chicken, but nothing could make me return to the ways of the carnivores. I have ample reasons to stick with herbivorism, including health, animal rights, environmental issues dealing with farms, etc...but I missed the *taste* of chicken. Problem solved! Last night, I had for the very first time, a fake chicken sandwich made from soy. Yes, sounds terrible...but it tasted just like chicken! At least, as well as I remember. Anyway it tastes great, it's totally healthy, and I will never ever second guess my choice to abstain from meat-eating. Yay! Camm, you've got to try this stuff. I had another one for lunch today, cause I don't know if I could go 12 hours without one (dinner was really late last night). Anyway it was the joy of my day, and I immediately invested in about 12 boxes of the stuff at Walmart this afternoon. Yummy:) The best part is, it says "VEGETARIAN SOY MEALS" or something like that really big on the package so my roommates will be all grossed out and won't steal it like they steal everything else I keep in there. Yay:) Anyway that's the big news today. Peace.
